Beginner's Baby Back Ribs.
by Bev Root
This is an easy and reliable recipe that uses a wood pellet grill and produces delicious ribs with little effort.
Total time from start to finish: 4-5 hours / Serves 4
Ingredients:
• 2 baby-back rib racks cut into four-rib segments
• 1 bottle meat marinade such as Traeger's Regular Marinade
• Your favorite barbecue sauce
(Our favorite is Grandville's Gourmet BBQ Sauce Original Spicy)
Directions:
1. Wash the ribs and place in a large zip-lock bag or glass dish (do not use metal--a metallic flavor will leach into the meat). Coat well and evenly with marinade. Refrigerate for two hours, turning once to ensure even marinating. Do not over-marinade. Discard leftover marinade.
2. During the last 20 minutes of marinating, fire up the wood pellet grill using hickory or mesquite pellets. Preheat to medium -- approximately 350 degrees.
3. Place the ribs meaty-side down on the grill. Cook for 40 minutes, then turn. Cook 40 more minutes.
4. Brush generously with barbecue sauce and cook for 15 minutes. Turn, sauce the other side, and cook another 15 minutes. Pull the thickest rack off the grill, cut into individual ribs, and test for doneness. Remember, a ring of pink meat on the outside is expected for meats cooked using smoke. Pink next to the bone means raw meat and more cooking required.
Don't forget plenty of paper towels and toothpicks!
